Fun game to test mechanical and decision-making skills by parkouring through different worlds (link to download and try out the game)
Context - Unity Game Design Project
Having played a lot of simple video games growing up, such as Minecraft and Mario, I was inspired to develop a parkour game with the Unity Game Engine where users are forced to make difficult jumps through different environments I designed.
Game Tools - Utilized Unity Engine, Blendr, and C#
In order to create certain elements of the game, I utilized Blender. C# code was utilized in creating interaction scripts like grabbing coins, player limitation barriers, movement (WASD, spacebar jump, & shift sprint), and music radius. All songs included were produced by me. I meshed all these elements together into the Unity Game Engine.
User Experience - Clear Affordances for users to know what to do
UI features
Menu screen: Provide a clear screen for users to enter/exit the game
Options Menu: tweak sensitivity and control keybinds
Spawnpoint: Indicate a clear starting point where users are greeted by staring at a floating picture indicating the controls (WASD movement, space bar jump, & shift sprint)Invisible barriers: directs users towards the correct directionsEnvironmental platforms: Clearly allows users to know where to go
User-Centric Design
After several playtests and tweaks from feedback, I created my first functional FPS video game that tests user's mechanics and reflexes to puzzle through an interactive parkour course.
